Week beginning 08.05.17

We finished reading 'Oranges in No Man's Land' this week in Literacy. The children really enjoyed the book and have produced some fantastic pieces of writing-including a diary entry, balanced argument and recount. We have being focusing on using descriptive language and short sentences to build tension in our writing. Next week the children will begin writing their own version of the story.

In Maths this week we have been ordering, comparing, multiplying, dividing and rounding decimal numbers up to three decimal places. We will be reading and plotting co-ordinates next week.

The children have been learning about reproduction in living things in Science. For homework this week, I have asked the children to illustrate and explain the life cycle of any mammal that isn't a human.

We have now finished our topic 'transformation' in RE. The children have learnt about Saul's transformation to Paul, and how Paul went on to spread the good news to the people in Rome. Next week we will begin our new topic 'Freedom and Responsibility'.

The children are enjoying learning about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. They used their research to produce some fantastic pieces of writing: including menus, newspaper articles and job advertisements!

Just a reminder that next week is cycling week. The children will be going out on the roads in small groups for approximately an hour and a half every day. Details about where the children should leave their bikes have been sent on parentmail. In addition, swimming sessions start next Friday. Please remember your child's swimming kit, including a swimming hat. It should be a very enjoyable week.
