Be Spirited Week

We are half way though our Be Spirited Week and the children have really impressed me with their thoughtful and reflective nature.

They have visited the different prayer stations in the hall and taken the time to talk to God.

In class they have written some superb letters to God, in response to scripture. They have also designed some wonderful colleges which represent the different Fruits of the Spirit.

Our Be Spirited Week will come to an end on Thursday as on Friday we have Mass, the Easter egg raffle and an end of term assembly. A reminder that the children will finish at 2:15.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter break-it sounds like you have lots of exciting things planned. I look forward to seeing the children on Wednesday 19th April.

Week beginning 20.04.17

On Tuesday two policemen from the local area came in to talk to year 5 about the importance of staying safe online. The children impressed them with their knowledge. They listened carefully and asked some great questions.

On Wednesday evening some children attended the Spring Festival concert at the Public Halls. Unfortunately I couldn't be there, but Mrs O Brien and Mrs Gritz were extremely proud of everybody that took part. They were a credit to our school.

The children have been busy all week planning their stalls for the Lenten Fundraiser which took place on Friday afternoon. They have impressed me with the ownership they took and the organisational skills they have shown-we definitely have some budding entrepreneurs in this class! The afternoon was a great success. The children had fun and raised lots of money for a brilliant cause.

SME week!

What a fun-filled and practical week we've had to celebrate Science, Maths and Engineering week! The children enjoyed the production of 'The Big Drip' by Quantum Theatre on Monday afternoon. They learnt about the properties of materials and reversible and irreversible changes through drama and song. Since then we have welcomed many parent helpers into the classroom who have run informative and engaging workshops. Between them they have covered engineering, accountancy and chemistry. A special thank you to Mrs Cross and Mrs Zilliox who both gave up their time to support SME week. Thank you for helping to make it such a success.

Ancient Greek Day!

The children (and adults) really enjoyed Ancient Greek Day on Tuesday!

In the morning the children visited different stations where they could make Greek pots, mosaics, soaps, wax tablets and more!

In the afternoon they were split into groups and asked to practice a Greek dance or play. They then performed these whilst enjoying a Greek feast!

Thank you to those parents who came to our Greek Museum this afternoon. I think you will agree that the children put lots of effort into making it a success.

Just a reminder that next week is Science, Maths and Engineering week. I have lots of fun activities planned for the children, starting with a production called 'The Big Drip' on Monday afternoon.
